Day 27 - Last day of month one!

Well I survived month one! Its hard to believe that I've been going for four straight weeks! I've also been eating probably 75-80% clean and I'm sure that's helped a ton! I'm down 6.5 pounds and 1.25 inches! I feel great! I'm still scared of month two though! haha

Today was a rough day doing the Plyometric Cardio Circuit, I wish I could have ended it on a better note. I didn't get Cardio Abs done, so I'll have to do it in between massive amounts of homework tomorrow. I wasn't feeling so hot today. I wanted to wake up early and work out, but I couldn't pull myself out of bed in time to do that. So I went to class - a 6 HOUR CLASS and wanted to die. It never seemed to end! So after class, it was late coming home and I had some how aquired a headache. I tried to take a short nap, but that didn't work so well and I woke up to make dinner (my local organic chicken was pretty good!) but due to quiet hours, I had to start working out directly after eating - which made me feel nauseated. I wish I could have pushed through harder, but I thought I was going to puke! Good thing to note for the future though - never ever eat directly before working out!

Right now I'm still nursing that headache and now a sore throat - I really hope I'm not getting sick! I'm going to go to bed early tonight and try to sleep it off. I'm waking up kind of early to get homework done, lots to do! I plan on spending the whole day in the Borders Cafe. Tomorrow before I go though, I will take after pictures to compare to my before pictures from day one! So I'm looking forward to that!

Day 26 - the measurements are in!

Yesterday was day 26. I'm really behind in posting lately. Summer midterms are coming around the corner and stealing away time and energy. I missed Monday accidentally. I went to borders with a friend to do homework in the early afternoon and next thing I knew, it was 9 at night and I couldn't make it home in time to work out before quiet hours kicked in at 10. I was pretty bummed. So instead I did Monday's workout yesterday and am still moving forward. Pure Cardio actually didn't feel so bad. I am hurting in it a lot less than I was at the beginning of this adventure and I can tell! I didn't get Cardio Abs in because I started too late and planned to make dinner in between Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs and my stomach felt so full after my delicious dinner, I didn't want to move! I made left over burgers with potato fries and green beans and might have over eaten a little . . .

So today after class will be the Plyometric Cardio Circut and then Cardio Abs - the next day is . . . NOTHING! Day off before I go into the Recovery Week! I'm so excited that I've made it through four solid weeks of this! And it has paid off! I can tell in my body that I'm getting more in shape and fit. I had to weigh and measure myself the other day because in my food tracker it says its been a month and it was time for the monthly check ins.

I'm down to 148.6 - 6.5lb difference from when I started! and 30.5 in the waist - a 1.25 inch change! So I'm pretty excited and feeling pretty good :)

I've been keeping my eating on track too, which is great! Wish I could work out now, but I have to go to class here soon - I still haven't done my homework for it! ooops . . .

Day 24 & 25 - Adventures

I'm behind in posting, things have been a little hectic around here lately. I did the Plyometric Cardio Circuit with Alexa yesterday, it was a lot of fun. We were huffing and puffing together! I had woke up that morning with the intention of working out before going to the farmers market around 10, but my leg was still bothering me. After walking around the farmers market my leg started to loosen up some. When me and Alexa started the workout, my leg was feeling pretty rough, but halfway into the warm up, my leg started feeling just fine. Later that night it throbbed a little but by today it was completely back to normal!

Yesterday was a fun day. In the morning we went to the farmers market where I managed to purchase local, free-range, organic chicken legs and thighs which I'm really looking forward to cooking! If they're really good, I'll probably go back next Saturday and pick up some more. I also got local free-range, organic eggs which I was really happy about! I got the medium sized ones instead of the large ones because they were having a special so I could get 18 for 3.50! I thought that was a win! Now I have tons of eggs to boil and they're smaller so eating two should be just about the right serving size. I also picked up some fruits and veggies and ate a healthy, vegan, sushi sandwich wrap thing . . . I may get another one of those too, it was very strange, but very good! I had missed going to the farmers market on Saturdays, I used to go all the time, but since I moved further away, I stopped going. I'll try to go more often from now on :)

Then after working out with Alexa, we later got back together that night and went out dancing! Now, I know alcohol is not on a diet, but I haven't drank in months and they had jello shots! We danced away all those calories last night! We danced for hours! It was my first time in a bar/club type deal, especially one for 21+! It was nice and a whole lot of fun! I can't wait to do it again sometime - though I'm sure it won't turn into an every weekend type deal. I'd like to bring Freddie, I think he'd enjoy it!

Today was Cardio Recovery for me, which wasn't that bad. I did, however, have a hard time holding some of the squats and lunges for a long period of time due to my burning thighs! But I tried to hang in there! I think it's my last time doing Cardio Recovery. Its hard to believe I only have two days until I'm done with month one! I'm scared of month two!

I haven't managed to repost my Insanity Calendar yet because its on my other computer and I've been on my new one lately. I'm going to boot it up and transfer it over soon since I need to keep up with it, but I have been keeping track of the one on my bulletin board! It looks like I've been working on this so long and yet it feels so short. I think working out is starting to become a habit because I feel like I have to work out everyday and I don't necessarily want to do it, but I want to skip it less, which is a good thing. Tomorrow is Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs - not my favorite day, so I'll have to be strong and push myself through it.

I don't have a food journal for this week because I've been not so great about keeping track, but tomorrow starts a new week and I'll be more on it this time!

Day 23 - sore legs

Well, day 23 was yesterday, but I didn't get a chance to post since it was such a crazy day. I worked out and did the Cardio Power and Resistance with Cardio Abs - I was actually able to do 4 moving push ups yesterday! My shoulders are sore today though haha

I am writing this on my new laptop, which I had to walk to go get from the fexex office yesterday. It was a significantly longer walk than I thought it would be - it was about a six mile round trip. Doing that after working out so hard (which actually felt really good), my leg started acting up as it is prone to do occasionally.

So today I went to the zoo and walked around all day, came home and slept for probably four hours, but my leg was still hurting pretty bad. So I Called my mother and talked to her about it and she recommended just doing some yoga and not worrying about Insanity tonight. She said my sister, who is also doing Insanity hurt herself and is out for about a week. I don't want that to happen to me - I'd rather wait a day and get back at it tomorrow. I'm going to do the Chalean Extreme Yoga video and hopefully tomorrow my leg will be better.

I have to wake up early tomorrow in order to work out - I'm going to the farmers market tomorrow with my friends and I'm pretty excited! I'm out of food, so it'll be nice to get some local produce and I haven't gone in a long time.

I haven't been checking my eating as much lately - I've even been eating mostly healthy, but I haven't been writing it down. Oh, well, I'm going to have to get back into again sometime soon, but for right now, I'm just enjoying some freedom in eating and not writing everything down.

Tomorrow is Plyometric Cardio Circuit! Hopefully I can kick ass like I did yesterday! I looked through some of the max videos - specifically the Sports Interval Training and I am pretty intimidated!

Day 22 - Struggling . . .

Today was the hardest its ever been to make myself work out. I had no motivation and I felt icky and all sorts of not good. I forced myself to do Pure Cardio but I started so late that I didn't have time to do Cardio Abs before quiet hours set in. I managed to get myself to exercise and work hard tonight, but only after a lot of pushing from friends. I will have to do Cardio Abs tomorrow with Cardio Power and Resistance. It might work better that way anyways since I don't have class tomorrow.

I've been slacking at keeping track of my eating these last two days, too. I'm determined to get that back on track tomorrow.

Day 20 - Stalemate

Me and the scale have been staring each other down all week. The scale has not yet budged. I'm getting impatient with that one pound - it just needs to tip from 150 to 149. I want to say good bye to the 150s forever, but Mr. Scale has not been agreeing with me!

I'm actually a little bummed I haven't lost anything in the last week. I have been exactly 150.8 for the last six days. I'm so excited to go to 149 that I keep checking, which I know I shouldn't do, but damnit I'm impatient!

Above is my eating for this week, I did pretty good, I managed about 90-95% clean eating. Last night being one of my exceptions - I couldn't resist the pizza! I think pms is starting to rear its ugly head. Also today, I had the hardest time working out. My workouts have gotten worse and worse this week. I am feeling like I have no energy and no motivation. I don't know if its pms or if I'm starting to really fall into a slump. I need to find a way to pull myself out of it soon. I'm afraid of month two of Insanity . . .

Oh well, I'm going to sleep on it and just do homework today. Tomorrow is my day off - woo hoo!

Day 19 - Team LeeAnn and Alexa!

Today I got my friend Alexa to work out with me and that was a lot of fun. She agreed its a pretty insane workout! I had someone to lie on the floor with and gasp for air :)

Tomorrow is the last day of week three with Plymetric Cardio Ciruit - possibly my least favorite. But the Pure Cardio with the Cardio Abs comes pretty close . . . Its hard to believe that I've been doing this for three weeks now. I'm gonna need to gain my second wind soon, I'm starting to drag a little bit in these workouts. hopefully the recovery week after this next one has me ready for more.

The scale has been set at 150.8 for a half a week now . . . I keep wanting it to drop to 149 so bad! I'm ready to say goodbye to those 150s and go into the 140s! I am going to keep my diet in check to make sure that I can give myself the push I need for this to work. I'm sure I'm gaining some muscle too, which could be part of why the scale isn't dropping as fast as I would like, but oh well. We'll see.

Day 18 - up and down . . .

Today was a roller coaster of a day for me. I was up and down all day. I need to get my mind back in the game of eating right and working out . . . I haven't messed up today, but at the same time, I really really want to! Aunt Flo is around the corner and she's coming with a vengeance! May the force be with me as to not undo everything I've done so far.

I'm thinking I may treat myself and hike up to Whole foods, grab some groceries and a pre-made dinner. Soup sounds delicious. I think that may be a safe alternative.

I also really need to get out of the house, I want to drop in Borders, my favorite store, I just wish I had someone to go with. Most of my friends are out of town for the summer and the ones that are here now are all busy and scattered about . . . :/ oh well.

Today I did Cardio Recovery and it was hard for me to muscle through - I felt like I had no energy today. Aunt Flo is being a bitch. But oh well, I did it and now I'm moving on.

Tomorrow is Cardio Power and Resistance, I need to get my butt back in gear before then! Hopefully a good night's sleep will do it!

Friday, July 9, 2010

Day 17 - Bummed . . .

Well, today I realized just how much being bummed can mess up your workout. I'm having family problems and while I worked out I couldn't concentrate at all. I just kept thinking about the issues. I did do it, but I'm looking forward to an easier day tomorrow - Cardio Recovery. I need to get my mind back on track.

Today I decided it would be my "free food night" because its my friend's birthday, so I ate cake batter. Other than that, though, I've been pretty good with the eating. I'm back on track tomorrow.

Day 16 - Turbo fire?

Today I weighed myself and was once again at 150.8! So that's good news and has me pretty excited!

Today I did Plyometric Cardio Circuit and put my all into it. I worked my ass off! I felt so tired after the workout that I laid on the floor for probably 10-15 min before moving! I'm really trying to push myself and dig deeper! I want to be ready for next month! The Max workouts look so intense that they frighten me a little bit. And they're right around the corner! Its hard to believe that I've only got a little less than two more weeks of month one and then I'll be moving on to month two! Go me! I feel very accomplished! I can't wait for my shirt!

I'm so into this that I don't want to stop just when Insanity is over - I need something to keep going and working towards. So I was looking around at new workouts and saw that there's Turbo Fire that just came out by Chalean Johnson - she does the Chalean Extreme series that I did for a while. I'm considering getting back into those or do the P90x when I graduate from Insanity.

Turbo Fire looks really fun. It looks like Insanity but with more dancing. I'm considering giving it a try when I get done, it reminds me a bit of DDR, and we all know how much I love DDR! I just know that Chalean can get a little annoying, I didn't like Turbo Jam, so I'm going to have to test the waters before I do anything . . . We'll see. If not that, then I'll do something else. I'm still thinking I might want weights after this. I think Freddie will want some weights, too, for when he works out with me. I'll have to keep his booty on track!

We shall see how it goes!

Free Insanity T-shirt!

Just found this! I'm so going to turn in my pictures for a free shirt! I will have earned it!

Day 15 - Fit Test

Today was my first fit test! (it should be the second, but I skipped the first, shame on me!) It was pretty hard, but I don't think I did too badly. I would like to see how it would have changed if I had done it the first time, but oh well. Above are my recorded numbers, but my handwritten is terrible so here is what it says:

Switch Kicks: 92
Power Jacks: 49
Power Knees: 100
Power Jumps: 25
Globe Jumps: 12
Suicide Jumps: 12
Push Up Jacks: 4
Low Plank Obliques: 27

So we'll see how much it improves next fit test!

I also weighed myself this morning and I was at 150.8! I know I could just be fluctuating, the body fluctuates 2 pounds regularly, but regardless that's less than what I started with, so that means something's happening and I'm very excited!

Last night I wanted to work out. And this morning I woke up ready to put some shoes on for a hard workout! That's unusual for me - normally I have to force myself to work out. It felt really nice to wake up this morning and want to work out. I hope I keep this feeling. I was actually a little bummed about waking up and only getting to do the fit test - I wanted to do something really hard. By the end of the workout, I wanted to do more, and didn't notice I was dripping sweat! I think I may have changed my opinion of a hard workout thanks to Insanity!

Day 14 - Too much fruit?

Well, today I called my mother to ask her a question about weather or not I eat too much fruit . . . I read online that I should limit my fruit intake because of the simple sugars in it - yet I love fruit so much! I probably eat about three servings of fruit and two servings of veggies a day. I would much rather eat fruit than veggies, and I always thought they were healthy, so the idea of eating too many blew my mind!

So I called my mom, health expert extraordinare! (or at least she likes to think she is haha) She said that I probably do have it upside down and that I should probably eat more veggies as opposed to fruits - something like two fruits a day and three servings of veggies. She did say that fruits are vital too, though. That there's a lot of fiber to help with digestion and tons of nutrients. She said that she thinks its fine unless I get close to my goal weight and I stop losing weight, then maybe I should eat more veggies, but until then I'm fine! So keep the fruit coming! Which is great since I bought this bag of delicious grapes the other day that must be eaten!

Today was my day off of working out and it was really nice and pretty relaxing. I used the time to talk to teachers and clean my apartment and have my friend come over for dinner (where we made some more of those delicious burgers!) without having to worry about working out. Tomorrow though I'm back to the grind! Its my first Fit Test. I wish I would have taken the first one so that I'd have something to compare this to, but I really wanted to jump straight in. Oh well. We'll know for next time now :)

I have also wondered about why my muscles aren't ever sore. I workout my hardest and I always pour sweat and I work to the point that I can't do anymore - I literally collapse on the ground. I read today that I might not get sore because I drink a protein shake directly after working out. Someone posted that protein after working out is great for your muscles and keeps them from being sore. I have a feeling its more of that and less of my great stretching! Anyways, it was something interesting to think about and something I think I'll keep doing since it seems to work!

Day 13 - Twice the workout, twice the fun! (not really)

Here's last week's food tracker! I did well the last four days. The earlier days were on vacation with my family with the "eat shit or starve" options . . . but oh well. I've got this week going better :)

Today was a really difficult workout - Pure Cardio followed by Cardio Abs. It was my first time having the two together and it was difficult! In the future, I need to remember to wait more than five minutes going from Pure Cardio to starting Cardio Abs. I'm thinking at least half an hour to maybe even an hour. I think I won't sweat much since its so short and its mostly on the floor, so maybe I could even do Pure Cardio in the morning and Cardio Abs in the night. Having done them back to back made me too tired to put a really good effort into Cardio Abs - and I really want those abs!

I read most of Freddie's The Eat Clean Diet for Men, because it has different things in it than what's in the Eat Clean Diet book. It was pretty interesting. I got to read about supplements and how to raise a libido! Haha! His definitely has better recipes. Maybe I like to eat like a man, who knows? I was raised on meat and BBQ - go midwest food!

Tomorrow I'm going to have Katie and Alexa over for dinner to finish off those really good burgers. They need to be made before they go bad and I'm looking forward to having people over. Freddie left today and I miss him already. My motivation man will have to push me from a distance. Freddie has decided to Eat Clean with me to be healthy, so I'm excited for my new partner in crime to come in the fall!

No workout tomorrow! I'm looking forward to that! My fit test is Wednesday - I didn't do the first one and I regret that, but oh well, moving on. I finished a whole two weeks! I'm proud of myself! Freddie says he can see some differences, they're subtle, but there. I hope with keeping up the good eating that I'll be able to see more differences in the future!

Day 12 - sick in the morning and working in the evening!

Freddie doesn't like the sweaty LeeAnn! I couldn't convice Freddie to work out with me, but I got him to take a sweaty picture with me. :)

Well, today I almost didn't make it to work out. I was really sick this morning and spent almost all of it on the toilet. I didn't start feeling better until the evening. After dinner I realized that I was feeling well enough to work out and I managed to fit it in right before quiet hours! I did Cardio Power and Resistance tonight. Every time I do these work outs, they get easier, but they're never easy. I was able to keep up more tonight than I have been in the past. Freddie got to watch me cheer myself on as I worked - I think he got a pretty decent laugh out of it. Maybe by the end of the month, I'll be able to keep up with the people in the video!

Me and Freddie made an awesome dinner out of the Eat Clean Diet For Men that Freddie bought for himself. He's going to read it over the break and we're going to both be in it together in the fall! We made her burgers and home fries with baked beans. It was really healthy and delicious at the same time! We bought more meat than we needed, though, there was too much for us to eat - we filled upright away! We'll have to cook the rest of it tomorrow for lunch.

Today I finished a page of the Eat Clean Companion so I'll post that tomorrow. Tomorrow is also the last day of week two! I'm hanging strong! I'm quite proud of myself! :)

Saturday, July 3, 2010

Day 11 - Team Freddie and LeeAnn

Today me and Freddie did Cardio Recovery. Its the easiest workout in the Insanity program, and Freddie's first one. He felt the burn in his buns and abs! He whined, bu he said he felt accomplished afterwards! We'll see how he likes Cardio Power and Resistance tomorrow!

I'm trying really hard to get back on the eating right, and Freddie's eating what I eat too :) We're going to a movie tonight and I'm going to pack my own popcorn - I can't resist having popcorn!

Day 10 - Motivation

How sweaty and messy I get after Insanity always makes me laugh - so I took a picture this time. It doesn't do the dripping sweat justice, but I like it :) It makes me feel good.

I had a rough time motivating myself today. I stayed up until 3:30am last night finishing homework and then had class at 8:30am until 3:30pm. I was so exhausted that I came back to my room and crashed. I got up an hour later, but I was still groggy and slow moving. I sat at my computer for at least an hour before I forced myself to really get my mind in the game. Today was the hardest of all of them (in my opinion at least) Plyometric Cardio Circuit.

I started looking up Insanity youtube video results and reviews and see what other people were saying about it and that motivated me enough to get off my chair. After that, I had a slow start. I was tired and had little energy, but about 2/3rds of the way through I remembered those result videos and what I wanted for myself and I told myself that if I didn't push through this with all my strength that I would never get the results I want. So I pushed myself off the ground (literally) and went back to push ups. I made that last 1/3rd worth everything. I worked hard and I sweated like an animal. But now I'm sitting here, typing this, feeling extremely accomplished! I hope to remember this feeling for my next workouts - but that doesn't change that I'm excited for an easier workout tomorrow with Cardio Recovery!

Other than that, I did manage to eat really well today so far. My body is trying to get used to all the fiber again - I'm feeling bloated a lot and spending quite a bit of time on the toilet. I can't wait to get back to my body being used to it, it's not my favorite time right now.

Freddie's coming back in tonight and I'm super excited to see him - he's my best motivation! Always with "You can do it!" "Don't eat that!" and so on. He does want to be a bad influence tonight though - he wants ramen! I'm going to order a small sashimi platter and some seaweed salad I think to stay on my diet. I shan't cave into ramen twice in one week!

Oh, and I posted the Insanity Calendar on the side of the blog to keep track and make sure I don't miss a day!

Day 9 - last weeks food tracker

Well, I've been saying for the last couple of days when I get home, I'd post my first food week tracker of the summer! I did okay until the last day of the week . . . you can start seeing the effect of Monteray where I accidently ordered fried fish and wasn't able to eat as much as I should . . . The food tracker from this week is off to a rocky start too. The last three days of Monteray were really bad with the whole "eat shit or starve" options. But I'm back on it today since I grabbed some groceries last night with my sisters, and shall be moving forward! I plan on being really strict the rest of the week. I'm making BBQ chicken for my sandwich tomorrow for class in my new mini crockpot - I hope it turns out well! And tonight is Pure Cardio - which will be hard, but today I feel like I have the energy for it! Hopefully I'll have energy after class tomorrow to finish Plyometric Cardio Ciruit tomorrow night!

May the force be with me!
