Day by day we're getting stronger . . . Keep breathing. Keep sweating.

P90xTF Day 1 - Change of Plans

Well, Freddie's still hurting from his shin splints, but he's actually dying to workout, so I'm not going to knock that and we found an alternative. We decided to do P90X since its weight training it shouldn't hurt his shins. We went through the cardio though, and there were no low impact modifications, so I decided that it would be better, at least until he feels better, to do Turbo Fire and he can follow the low impact version and not do any of the jumping. I think that will work with his shins, we'll see after today.

Yesterday we did Chest Back & Arms and Ab Ripper X. It was pretty intense and we're both sore today! We went ahead and bought some bands from Amazon that seem to work pretty well, but we're considering buying a cheep pullup bar from wallgreens and trying to hang it from my closet door to add since there are so many pull ups. We used the bands from the door yesterday and it worked alright, though I can tell its not as hard as a pullup.

I'm glad to be back at working out, I really missed not working out for the last two weeks, but after tomorrow, my school stuff should settle down and I'll be able to workout more and hopefully Freddie will feel better too :) I'm actually excited to try weight training more, I'm hoping trying something different will give me better results.

Insanity Day 9 - Shin Splints

Today I was sluggish. I wasn't feeling 100% until later in the evening, so I worked out around 9 pm. We did Pure Cardio which wasn't so bad, except that Freddie got shin splints! I think we need to get him some new shoes. If he doesn't buy some in the next day or so, I may buy it for him. I think shoes are really important and I don't want to see him hurt. I really didn't like seeing him in pain and not being able to do anything. He's limping around and looking awfully pathetic. I doubt he'll be able to workout tomorrow which is a bummer since he's been doing so well with it. We'll have to see how he feels tomorrow. I hope its much better. I worry about him. :(

Insanity Day 8 - Going out

I should have posted this yesterday, but I forgot to, so here it is :) last night was a really late workout around 8:30 pm and then I went out dancing and drinking for a bit. It was a good night.

Insanity Day 7 - Carpet Beetles

I know I'm posting this a day late, but I thought it would be better to have this in a separate post than to jam all today's and yesterday's together. This is my weekly recap. I unfortunately fell short in a couple of places. I didn't lose a pound, but there may be two reasons for that. One: my body may still be retaining water from being sore, and two, which is much more likely, I need to really reign my diet in. I'm having a hard time with the eating out and not eating junk or over eating. Its amazing how many different problems are a part of that one. Its getting harder with pms and also the amount of stress from having both my reels due at the same time. Its definitely something I'm going to work on. One thing I'm proud of, though, is that I did push play and go as hard as I can for a whole week.

Yesterday wasn't much of a rest day. I had classes all day and then I found out my apartment had carpet beetles and had to do an impromptu entire cleaning of my apartment. I didn't get done until after 1 in the morning with it all, since we had to clean the carpets and move things around to clean under them. I'm pretty exhausted now, even after sleeping eight hours or so. I'm hoping to bounce back soon. I have lots of work to do today that I need to be awake for.

It'll be a later workout today, Freddie has his speed painting workshop, so we may workout closer to 6 or 7.

Insanity Day 6 - Sweaty Pictures

Today was the last day of working out for the week! I'm so proud of Freddie for having made it this far - I actually got him to take some pictures with me after the workout today! Though I couldn't convince him to smile . . . he was a little cranky and tired. We did Plyometric Cardio Circuit and while it was super hard and we were both low on steam, we pulled through it! Won't lie, though, we're both looking forward to the rest day!

Yesterday I also promised myself to not go off the diet and eat clean, I wrote everything down and totally did it! I even rewarded myself with a little treat of popcorn last night since it was in my calorie limits and still considered decently clean since I use my air popper and healthy butter. Below is my food list.

Turbo Fire Tank Top

Today my Turbo Fire tank top came in the mail. It was pretty exciting! The only thing is that it's too big . . . I thought it would be too small, but nope. Who would have thought that I was a small? Especially for workout clothes. I'm going to try to shrink it in the dryer, I used a hair tie to pull it back on the pictures.

Insanity Day 5 - Keeping Goals

Oh. My. God. Pure Cardio was the hardest workout yet! I ran out of steam in some parts and just could not physically get myself off the ground. It was not for lack of mental will-power.

Freddie did it again with me, and he was in the same boat! He's getting a lot better, and I think that he's even starting to like it! While he curses Shaun T through the workout, he doesn't quit and he hasn't been complaining about having to do it - in fact - this morning I offered to do it without him and he was there! I think he's starting to like it! I'm going to try really hard to keep him around at least until the second week so he can see how much he's improved in his fit test. We didn't take measurements or weigh him, but I think that's okay, because I think he'll notice how he feels different more than anything and he's not concerned about losing weight. Either way, I'm super proud of him! And I really like working out with him!

Today I'm going to stick to that goal I wrote last night. Today I'm going to eat 95% clean. I can do this, and I will do this. I have to promise myself these things because the only person who's going to be hurt and disappointed if I don't do it is me. And after doing all these things for so long, I know I can do it, and I'm not going to let myself down. I feel good to be able to say these things and know that I CAN do it. Right now, I"m starting to day off right with a very clean, raw protein, amazing grass, strawberry and almond milk smoothie after the work out. MMMMmmmm.

Diet - Holding myself accountable.

I've been having a hard time these last few days with my diet. I'm pmsing, but I'm not going to let that get in the way of my goals anymore. So I'm posting on here, to tell the world and, more importantly, myself, that tomorrow, I'm going to eat at least 95% clean. I CAN and WILL do this! I always regret it after eating crap and I'm not going to let it happen tomorrow. One small goal at a time I'm going to change how I eat.

Insanity Day 4 - Recovery?

Today was Cardio Recovery and while it wasn't cardio, it did make our thighs burn! OUCH! I'm glad it wasn't cardio, my calves are still sore. Freddie was hurting pretty bad, but he'll get better :) Tomorrow is going to be a rough one with Pure Cardio.

I am still working on the eating. I ended up eating too much of the Annie's Mac and Cheese I made. :( I need to work on that self-control thing. I also blew one of my goals for this week by going out twice, my friend Ashley was in town so I made an exception since I won't see her until next semester, but no more this week! I am running out of Coco Casava bars which is a bummer, I love them so much, but they're so expensive . . . maybe I can cough up the money and ship some protein powder and bars together that way shipping is almost affordable . . .

Insanity Day 3 - Team L&F Rides Again!

Today I woke up and my calves HURT! Its almost nice to have a little soreness after working out so hard. Freddie once again worked out with me, though he wouldn't take a picture afterwards with me :( We did Cardio Power and Resistance and we pushed really really hard! I don't think that it's quite as hard as plyometric cardio circuit. Freddie was kicking some ass on those Moving Push Ups, made me want to work harder! He's still a little shaky right now from them. I liked working out with him, it makes it a lot more fun and they feel like they go so much quicker. Go Team!

Insanity Day 2 - Team LeeAnn and Freddie!

Phew! Today was the first time since last year I've done Plyometric Cardio Circuit. I forgot how difficult that workout is! I actually noticed that in the warm up, I did better than I used to, I managed to make it through with only two short stops, but Freddie was sure having a hard time! And I can't blame him, I remember when I first started Insanity last summer, I thought that I was going to die. I'm super happy and excited that Freddie did it with me and he said he'll join me tomorrow too! We're going to take a picture tomorrow, we forgot to today.

This workout also seemed to go a lot quicker than I remember it going, it must be because I'm used to the Turbo Fire workouts. I did like the shortness of it, but I had to really really push! I had to keep telling myself, "LeeAnn, you can do it!" because I made a promise to myself to push hard everyday! I had to take some breaks, but I tried to make them as short as possible, Level 1 Drills with the pushups about did me in though!

I do kind of miss the fun of the Turbo Fire workouts, but Insanity makes me feel like a badass! I can't wait to do it again tomorrow! Sadly, after how tired I am after Insanity, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to keep up with Yuri's Abs. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Insanity Day 1 - Fit Test

Well today starts the infamous Insanity! I did the Fit Test and dang it was hard! I forgot just how much I hate power jumps. I need to not slap my knees so hard! I had a large red patch on my knees from power knees and power jumps.

I've posted my chart for my fit test. I actually found my sheet from almost exactly one year ago when I was doing this, and I actually improved! I was two weeks into the program when I did the old fit test (I always regretted not doing the first one) and I did better in everything this time except for power jacks and globe jumps, but I more than doubled my old score for suicide jumps! Pretty awesome! I had to remind myself today during the fit test of one of my program goals: To push as hard as I can! I feel pretty good about it.

Freddie did it with me today, he thought he was going to die! He's also going to do the first Insanity workout with me tomorrow. It should be fun! I'm really looking forward to completing something that I didn't finish last year.

Insanity Program Goals

These are my Insanity program goals. I noticed with Turbo Fire that I did much better when I kept up with my weekly goals and eating, so for this time around, I'm going to keep up with that, and as such, these are my program goals :) I'll post my weekly goals tomorrow.

Turbo Fire was about completion and about proving to myself that I can do something and take my health into my own hands. This time, its still going to be about that, but I'm also going to be pushing for more results. Insanity isn't as fun and if I don't see changes, I think I'll be more upset. Either way, this is going to be a good learning experience with expanding on my goals and moving forward!

I want to really watch my eating this time around and I want to really see a difference - they say that abs are made in the kitchen! I'm going to really work on eating more green smoothies, getting my fruits and vegetables and eating more raw foods. I'm also going to work with some of the Eat Clean Diet principles and eat smaller portions and eat every 2.5 - 3 hours. I'm also going to work on not eating out - a huge problem of mine! I have two full chickens left in the freezer that I'm going to crock pot, so hopefully that'll help my wallet and Eating With the Seasons is starting up again, so I'm excited for the fresh produce. I'm also going to count calories for at least a week or two to get myself back in the habit of watching what I eat.

This time I'm going to complete Insanity, damnit! May the force be with me!

Day 84 - Final Turbo Fire Pictures

These are my pictures from Turbo Fire! I realized that I can separate my white skin from blending into the background by turning the background into black and white. I turned in my pictures for the tank top and it took me a couple hours to get through doing all of the pictures and mash things together. Phew. Its not as drastic as I would have liked, I had a few rough weeks where I went backwards, but I am proud of myself none-the-less. I proved something to myself by doing this. I feel more confident and happy. Now onto Insanity!

I posted the before and after pictures, here are the final totals:

weight loss: -6.8 lbs
waist in: -2.75 in

Day 83 - Last day of Class!

Today I did Stretch 40 and completed my final Turbo Fire class! I can't believe that I did it! I'm super excited! Tomorrow I will weigh and measure myself. Wish me luck! This month was rough, I think I may have gained a couple pounds, but I did the workouts and pulled myself through which is a huge accomplishment. This is the first workout program I have ever completed and it makes me feel like I can do so much more! And now I know I can set my mind to do anything that I want to! I feel I can do better in animation, work, and life in general. I like the feeling of being healthy and just generally feeling good about myself which I get from working out. I also realized that I enjoy working out, as strange as that may sound. It took me three months to learn this, but it did come! I'll post my results tomorrow.

Day 82 - Late

Today was Stretch 40 and Yuri's Abs. I actually did Yuri's Abs in the morning and planned to do Stretch 40 later, but forgot until late at night. Good thing its yoga, so I can do it without worrying about waking the neighbors! One more day of work tomorrow, I'm super excited!!!

Day 81 - Getting Control . . .

Yesterday I woke up with a migraine and was pretty sick for most of the day. By the time I got to feeling better, I had to spend the whole day doing homework before going to late night fireworks. So I skipped yesterday and went ahead and did Fire 45 EZ. I didn't get to do Yuri's Abs today, lack of time, but I'll do them tomorrow when I do stretch 40. The plan is going to be two days of stretching (plus abs) and then a rest day. Afterwards, I think I'm going to start up Insanity on Saturday.

I'm starting to track my food again. I need to get a handle on my weight and I'm sure its what I'm eating. Hopefully starting a new program and really cracking down on what I eat is going to do the trick. My weight is ridiculously hard to get a hold of and stay down. Damn my genes. Oh well, cheers to a life of hard work.

Day 80 - Rock Climbing

Today was my last time doing Fire 55 EZ! Hard to believe but I'm finally done with that one. I'm ready to move on! It feels like a lot of the Turbo Fire classes are becoming too easy and I'm spacing too much while doing them. I want something new to get my head in the game more and push myself harder. Something more challenging now that I'm more fit (hello Insanity next month!) I'm actually looking forward to Stretch 40 tomorrow, haven't had that at all this month and I miss it.

Today was a late workout since this afternoon I went out with some friends and went rock climbing! It was a lot of fun, and a good workout. I triumphed over my fear of falling and managed to make it all the way up to the top of the rock wall. We were bouldering so there was no harness, which was pretty intimidating. I actually fell off once, thank god the mats they have on the ground are really good! I hope to go again sometime.

Day 79 - Beginning of the End . . . of Turbo Fire

Today was my first day of my last week of Month 3 for Turbo Fire! I'm super excited. I'm proud of myself for having made it this far. This will be the first workout program I've ever completed. I'm going to send in my before and after pictures and get my free Turbo Fire tank top and I'll take a picture and put it on here, and of course send it to my mom so she can get a good laugh :)

Today was a pretty easy day, but my elbow started acting up today, damn that Tendonitis. I'm going to have to rest it tomorrow, but today I not only had to do Fire 45 EZ and Yuri's Abs, but then tons of homework to irritate it more. Blah. I must say though, that Fire 45 is a pretty light workout for me now! I do like it, I especially like the lack of fire drills! haha It seemed to go by really quickly.

I also made more green smoothie today, I'm growing quite fond of it! I found my pitcher attatchment for my Magic Bullet and it works wonders. One pitcher worth makes about two glasses of green drink and I dont' have to keep adding to it like I do with the regular "party mugs."
