Day by day we're getting stronger . . . Keep breathing. Keep sweating.

P90xInsanity Day 6 - Sore Boo-tay

Today was Plyo Cardio Circuit and it was pretty intense, especially those power squats after yesterday's Legs and Back. My butt is pretty sore from all those lunges yesterday. I didn't realize how much I had I worked my butt until this morning when I rolled out of bed and was reminded when I walked the long ways to Trader Joes to get food for my plane ride tomorrow.

At Trader Joes, I picked up some things for the ride to try to avoid all the really bad food they offer there. I got two protein bars, pecans, and turkey jerky. I'm also going to bring some raisins that I have. Fingers crossed! Going home is going to be another challenge.

P90xInsanity Day 5 - Switching Around the Calendar

Today we did Legs and Back and Cardio Abs. All the pull ups were pretty intense. We finished with Cardio Abs because we just like it so much more than Ab Ripper X.

I talked with my coach and switched around some of the days in month 1, we got rid of Plyo X for Cardio Power and Resistance, and I'm only going to do Pure Cardio every other week and rotate it with some Yoga. It looks pretty good I think. I'm excited to do Yoga next week. Since I'll be home, I'll try one of my mom's yoga DVDs for fun.

I'm working with my coach to try to figure out my nutrition right now. It's been very educational so far and I'm looking forward to keeping up with this and seeing how it turns out!

P90xInsanity Day 4 - Limitations

Ah, nothing like Pure Cardio to remind me why I love intense cardio so much. It was crazy hard, but it goes through so fast that I hardly notice it and when its done, I feel awesome. If I'm lucky, I'll start feeling that way with the weight training too. I've started noticing bruises on my arms from the bands, I'm going to have to watch that next time I work out.

Freddie and I took yesterday off because we went to go to play tennis, which was lots of fun, and then on the way back, his shin started hurting pretty badly again. So we sat last night out, we were exhausted from tennis anyways. I was a little bummed that we had to miss it, I'm planning on not missing anymore here on out. Freddie had a bit of a hard time with Pure Cardio today because of his shin, but he modified a lot of the moves and got through it with minimal pain. He just gets a little gung-ho in these workouts and wants to power through them, but he needs to learn his limits. He shouldn't be in pain.

I ended up switching my coach from Coach Wayne to Coach Kyle. Coach Wayne is great and has great results with people, but I really need someone with more time to help me out with my nutritional goals. Kyle's going to help me out and hopefully that goes well! I'm very excited to have someone support me through the eating, which is where I really struggle.

P90xInsanity Day 3 - Final Turn Around

Alright, so me and Freddie finally agreed on something and this is what we're sticking with. He didn't like Turbo Fire as much as Insanity, so we're doing a P90X Insanity Hybrid and Freddie's going to modify everything until he's feeling 100% with his shins again. So far its been going pretty good.

We got the schedule from Coach Wayne at teamripped.com and I made him my beachbody coach! I'm hoping that I can get some great results with a bit of coaching.

Today was Shoulders and Arms and Cardio Abs. Pretty intense day, but it was fun! We're still getting used to the bands, so its a little slow, but we're speeding up the switching little by little. Tomorrow is Insanity, and I think me and Freddie are both a little worried! Its been a while since either of us has done intense cardio like Insanity.

P90xTF Day 4 - Crazy Late Workout

Today was a crazy day. We were on the go the whole day and we didn't get back home until around 11 at night. We then waited longer than we should have and didn't get to workout until after midnight. At least it was yoga, so we didn't have to worry about waking the neighbors. We ended up doing Stretch 40 instead of Yoga X because its so much longer and it was so late and we were tired. It was really relaxing, we both liked it. Next time we'll do Yoga X and see how its different.

P90xTF Day 3 - Long workout

Today was Shoulders and Arms and it was looooong! I don't think I've ever really done an hour workout that wasn't training for the six mile Turkey Trot. It was pretty tough, but we got it done. We're still trying to figure out the bands, I think we're getting better. Some of the moves are still awkward with the bands, and the fabric rubs our arms uncomfortably sometime, but they do work! I'm happy to start working out again, it really helps with the stress of everything that's been going on.

P90xTF Day 2 - Mercola Protein Powder

Today we did Fire 45 EZ and it made me realize how much I missed Turbo Fire! Its just such a fun workout I always look forward to doing. I don't know that I'll ever like weights quite as much as intense cardio, but I'll give it a go. I need some weight training anyways. It just makes me happy that I can do both :) Fire 45 EZ Is a lot easier than it used to be for me, I can still remember three months ago! Freddie was able to do it without hurting his shins so long as he didn't bounce, so he got a good workout from it too.

My new Mercola protein powder came in last week! I'm super excited! I can go back to whey protein now (I don't like the conventional whey protein since the way its processed is pretty bad, if I have to buy it from the store I get Raw Protein which tastes chalky icky, this one tastes great though!). It has chia seeds and probiotics. I have been mixing it with my almond milk. This one I just got from Trader Joes and it tastes almost identical to the Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze and its a little cheaper, so I think that I'll be buying more of it in the future!

P90xTF Day 1 - Change of Plans

Well, Freddie's still hurting from his shin splints, but he's actually dying to workout, so I'm not going to knock that and we found an alternative. We decided to do P90X since its weight training it shouldn't hurt his shins. We went through the cardio though, and there were no low impact modifications, so I decided that it would be better, at least until he feels better, to do Turbo Fire and he can follow the low impact version and not do any of the jumping. I think that will work with his shins, we'll see after today.

Yesterday we did Chest Back & Arms and Ab Ripper X. It was pretty intense and we're both sore today! We went ahead and bought some bands from Amazon that seem to work pretty well, but we're considering buying a cheep pullup bar from wallgreens and trying to hang it from my closet door to add since there are so many pull ups. We used the bands from the door yesterday and it worked alright, though I can tell its not as hard as a pullup.

I'm glad to be back at working out, I really missed not working out for the last two weeks, but after tomorrow, my school stuff should settle down and I'll be able to workout more and hopefully Freddie will feel better too :) I'm actually excited to try weight training more, I'm hoping trying something different will give me better results.

Insanity Day 9 - Shin Splints

Today I was sluggish. I wasn't feeling 100% until later in the evening, so I worked out around 9 pm. We did Pure Cardio which wasn't so bad, except that Freddie got shin splints! I think we need to get him some new shoes. If he doesn't buy some in the next day or so, I may buy it for him. I think shoes are really important and I don't want to see him hurt. I really didn't like seeing him in pain and not being able to do anything. He's limping around and looking awfully pathetic. I doubt he'll be able to workout tomorrow which is a bummer since he's been doing so well with it. We'll have to see how he feels tomorrow. I hope its much better. I worry about him. :(

Insanity Day 8 - Going out

I should have posted this yesterday, but I forgot to, so here it is :) last night was a really late workout around 8:30 pm and then I went out dancing and drinking for a bit. It was a good night.

Insanity Day 7 - Carpet Beetles

I know I'm posting this a day late, but I thought it would be better to have this in a separate post than to jam all today's and yesterday's together. This is my weekly recap. I unfortunately fell short in a couple of places. I didn't lose a pound, but there may be two reasons for that. One: my body may still be retaining water from being sore, and two, which is much more likely, I need to really reign my diet in. I'm having a hard time with the eating out and not eating junk or over eating. Its amazing how many different problems are a part of that one. Its getting harder with pms and also the amount of stress from having both my reels due at the same time. Its definitely something I'm going to work on. One thing I'm proud of, though, is that I did push play and go as hard as I can for a whole week.

Yesterday wasn't much of a rest day. I had classes all day and then I found out my apartment had carpet beetles and had to do an impromptu entire cleaning of my apartment. I didn't get done until after 1 in the morning with it all, since we had to clean the carpets and move things around to clean under them. I'm pretty exhausted now, even after sleeping eight hours or so. I'm hoping to bounce back soon. I have lots of work to do today that I need to be awake for.

It'll be a later workout today, Freddie has his speed painting workshop, so we may workout closer to 6 or 7.

Insanity Day 6 - Sweaty Pictures

Today was the last day of working out for the week! I'm so proud of Freddie for having made it this far - I actually got him to take some pictures with me after the workout today! Though I couldn't convince him to smile . . . he was a little cranky and tired. We did Plyometric Cardio Circuit and while it was super hard and we were both low on steam, we pulled through it! Won't lie, though, we're both looking forward to the rest day!

Yesterday I also promised myself to not go off the diet and eat clean, I wrote everything down and totally did it! I even rewarded myself with a little treat of popcorn last night since it was in my calorie limits and still considered decently clean since I use my air popper and healthy butter. Below is my food list.

Turbo Fire Tank Top

Today my Turbo Fire tank top came in the mail. It was pretty exciting! The only thing is that it's too big . . . I thought it would be too small, but nope. Who would have thought that I was a small? Especially for workout clothes. I'm going to try to shrink it in the dryer, I used a hair tie to pull it back on the pictures.

Insanity Day 5 - Keeping Goals

Oh. My. God. Pure Cardio was the hardest workout yet! I ran out of steam in some parts and just could not physically get myself off the ground. It was not for lack of mental will-power.

Freddie did it again with me, and he was in the same boat! He's getting a lot better, and I think that he's even starting to like it! While he curses Shaun T through the workout, he doesn't quit and he hasn't been complaining about having to do it - in fact - this morning I offered to do it without him and he was there! I think he's starting to like it! I'm going to try really hard to keep him around at least until the second week so he can see how much he's improved in his fit test. We didn't take measurements or weigh him, but I think that's okay, because I think he'll notice how he feels different more than anything and he's not concerned about losing weight. Either way, I'm super proud of him! And I really like working out with him!

Today I'm going to stick to that goal I wrote last night. Today I'm going to eat 95% clean. I can do this, and I will do this. I have to promise myself these things because the only person who's going to be hurt and disappointed if I don't do it is me. And after doing all these things for so long, I know I can do it, and I'm not going to let myself down. I feel good to be able to say these things and know that I CAN do it. Right now, I"m starting to day off right with a very clean, raw protein, amazing grass, strawberry and almond milk smoothie after the work out. MMMMmmmm.

Diet - Holding myself accountable.

I've been having a hard time these last few days with my diet. I'm pmsing, but I'm not going to let that get in the way of my goals anymore. So I'm posting on here, to tell the world and, more importantly, myself, that tomorrow, I'm going to eat at least 95% clean. I CAN and WILL do this! I always regret it after eating crap and I'm not going to let it happen tomorrow. One small goal at a time I'm going to change how I eat.

Insanity Day 4 - Recovery?

Today was Cardio Recovery and while it wasn't cardio, it did make our thighs burn! OUCH! I'm glad it wasn't cardio, my calves are still sore. Freddie was hurting pretty bad, but he'll get better :) Tomorrow is going to be a rough one with Pure Cardio.

I am still working on the eating. I ended up eating too much of the Annie's Mac and Cheese I made. :( I need to work on that self-control thing. I also blew one of my goals for this week by going out twice, my friend Ashley was in town so I made an exception since I won't see her until next semester, but no more this week! I am running out of Coco Casava bars which is a bummer, I love them so much, but they're so expensive . . . maybe I can cough up the money and ship some protein powder and bars together that way shipping is almost affordable . . .

Insanity Day 3 - Team L&F Rides Again!

Today I woke up and my calves HURT! Its almost nice to have a little soreness after working out so hard. Freddie once again worked out with me, though he wouldn't take a picture afterwards with me :( We did Cardio Power and Resistance and we pushed really really hard! I don't think that it's quite as hard as plyometric cardio circuit. Freddie was kicking some ass on those Moving Push Ups, made me want to work harder! He's still a little shaky right now from them. I liked working out with him, it makes it a lot more fun and they feel like they go so much quicker. Go Team!

Insanity Day 2 - Team LeeAnn and Freddie!

Phew! Today was the first time since last year I've done Plyometric Cardio Circuit. I forgot how difficult that workout is! I actually noticed that in the warm up, I did better than I used to, I managed to make it through with only two short stops, but Freddie was sure having a hard time! And I can't blame him, I remember when I first started Insanity last summer, I thought that I was going to die. I'm super happy and excited that Freddie did it with me and he said he'll join me tomorrow too! We're going to take a picture tomorrow, we forgot to today.

This workout also seemed to go a lot quicker than I remember it going, it must be because I'm used to the Turbo Fire workouts. I did like the shortness of it, but I had to really really push! I had to keep telling myself, "LeeAnn, you can do it!" because I made a promise to myself to push hard everyday! I had to take some breaks, but I tried to make them as short as possible, Level 1 Drills with the pushups about did me in though!

I do kind of miss the fun of the Turbo Fire workouts, but Insanity makes me feel like a badass! I can't wait to do it again tomorrow! Sadly, after how tired I am after Insanity, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to keep up with Yuri's Abs. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Insanity Day 1 - Fit Test

Well today starts the infamous Insanity! I did the Fit Test and dang it was hard! I forgot just how much I hate power jumps. I need to not slap my knees so hard! I had a large red patch on my knees from power knees and power jumps.

I've posted my chart for my fit test. I actually found my sheet from almost exactly one year ago when I was doing this, and I actually improved! I was two weeks into the program when I did the old fit test (I always regretted not doing the first one) and I did better in everything this time except for power jacks and globe jumps, but I more than doubled my old score for suicide jumps! Pretty awesome! I had to remind myself today during the fit test of one of my program goals: To push as hard as I can! I feel pretty good about it.

Freddie did it with me today, he thought he was going to die! He's also going to do the first Insanity workout with me tomorrow. It should be fun! I'm really looking forward to completing something that I didn't finish last year.

Insanity Program Goals

These are my Insanity program goals. I noticed with Turbo Fire that I did much better when I kept up with my weekly goals and eating, so for this time around, I'm going to keep up with that, and as such, these are my program goals :) I'll post my weekly goals tomorrow.

Turbo Fire was about completion and about proving to myself that I can do something and take my health into my own hands. This time, its still going to be about that, but I'm also going to be pushing for more results. Insanity isn't as fun and if I don't see changes, I think I'll be more upset. Either way, this is going to be a good learning experience with expanding on my goals and moving forward!

I want to really watch my eating this time around and I want to really see a difference - they say that abs are made in the kitchen! I'm going to really work on eating more green smoothies, getting my fruits and vegetables and eating more raw foods. I'm also going to work with some of the Eat Clean Diet principles and eat smaller portions and eat every 2.5 - 3 hours. I'm also going to work on not eating out - a huge problem of mine! I have two full chickens left in the freezer that I'm going to crock pot, so hopefully that'll help my wallet and Eating With the Seasons is starting up again, so I'm excited for the fresh produce. I'm also going to count calories for at least a week or two to get myself back in the habit of watching what I eat.

This time I'm going to complete Insanity, damnit! May the force be with me!
